Getting To Know Us: Dave and Tracy - The Faces Behind Redpoll
Hello, we're Dave and Tracy, and we run Redpoll Holiday Lettings.
Redpoll was born from our passion for exploring and discovering new places. We had (and still do have!) a busy family life with our two children, as well as work and business - so having somewhere to escape those pressures with the kids was vital for us. It’s how we ended up buying our first caravan in Cornwall, to give us a place we could escape to, to make memories and have fun as a family.
Our passion for exploration and adventure has always been a key part of our life together. In our younger years, scuba diving was a shared passion; in fact, our love of diving was such a big part of our lives that we ran our own scuba diving business! Over the years, we've been lucky enough to dive around Cornwall, explore some incredible sites across the UK, experience the warm, clear waters of Egypt, and even take on the unforgettable challenge of cage diving with great white sharks.
Although our adventures have changed over the years, our love of exploring certainly hasn't - no matter how busy family life has become. We know how important it is to have somewhere to escape, relax, and enjoy time together.
We first discovered Cornwall more than 20 years ago, and fell in love with it straight away. Our early visits took us to places like Porthkerris and the Lizard Peninsula.
Purchasing a caravan in this part of the world seemed like the obvious choice to give us a home away from home - so 12 years ago we made the jump into caravan ownership, buying our caravan on White Acres, Newquay. We soon discovered that caravan ownership wasn’t cheap, so we decided to rent it out to help other families enjoy their own Cornish adventures while covering some of the running costs.
More than a decade later, we are still enjoying our breaks in Cornwall, discovering new places from hidden coves to fabulous places to eat; there’s always something waiting to surprise and delight us. We love heading to Falmouth or Padstow to watch the world go by, or exploring one of the many National Trust properties in the area (they’re always a great day out for the family!).
We started Redpoll Holiday Lettings in April 2025, but outside of that, you'll usually find us doing something that involves exploring, travelling, or spending time with our family.
We're passionate about rugby and are proud Bristol Bears season ticket holders. When we're in Cornwall, we enjoy following the Cornish Pirates, and we also volunteer at our local rugby club.
Our love of rugby and travel have fed into one another - we love travelling to different places to watch rugby, explore new areas and enjoy time together as a family. From trips to Twickenham to weekends discovering somewhere new, our love of the sport is always taking us somewhere different.
Some of our favourite places include Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Bristol, and Newcastle upon Tyne, although our list of places still to explore keeps growing.
After all these years of travelling, exploring and creating memories, we know that the best holidays are about the experiences you have and the people you share them with.
